La France Insoumise: "We have nothing to be ashamed of"

2020-11-27T22:42:57.056Z

VIDEO - Mathilde Panot, member of the Val-de-Marne of France Insoumise, was the guest of “Talk-Le Figaro” this Thursday.

"

Obviously I support the candidacy of Jean-Luc Mélenchon,"

said Mathilde Panot on the set of "Talk Le Figaro" Thursday.

"Which does not mean that there will be no union of the left,"

she added.

In working order behind the Insoumis leader for 2022, the member for Val-de-Marne and her Melenchonnist colleagues start from the principle that

"it is the program which is a candidate, a program which has proved its worth in this crisis",

affirms she does.

The spokesperson for the group in the Assembly also wants to mark the difference embodied by the rebels in the hemicycle, accusing in passing LREM and the RN of being

"responsible for the impasse in which we are".

If the natural opponents are designated,

"we are ready to discuss our program with everyone,"

assures the spokesperson, but not at any cost.

Mathilde Panot: "France is at a very worrying authoritarian turn" - Watch on Figaro Live

Updated, this LFI program, “The Common Future”,

“received seven million votes in the 2017 presidential election,”

recalls Mathilde Panot.

However, if the discussion is possible, as she maintains, the essential question of the

"link to Europe"

seems to be at best part of the points of divergence, at worst of blockages with the other left parties.

L'Insoumise pleads for transparency:

"We do not believe that within the framework of the European treaties we can lead an ecological, social and democratic policy."

"Treaties which have also exploded during this period of coronavirus",

underlines the elected official, adding that to promise a social policy

"worthy of the name"

without leaving it would be

"to lie to the French".

"Authoritarian turn"

The union seems far from being won on the left, however.

"Mrs. Hidalgo would do well to sweep in front of her own door",

reacts Mathilde Panot to the words of the mayor of Paris on EELV's relationship with secularism.

It also recalls the metaphor of Jean-Luc Mélenchon -

"Be careful, we are the draft book of what is done to others".

L'Insoumise comes back to the ambiguities criticized against his party on secularism and Islamo-leftism:

“There were not many people to defend us on this issue,

” she laments.

We have nothing to be ashamed of for what we have done or said, ”

including the presence of Jean-Luc Mélenchon at the demonstration against Islamophobia in November 2019.

The deputy protested against

“this label of Islamo-leftist that we give to everyone.

It is unbearable and it is dangerous.

We need the unity of the French people in the face of the great challenges that await us and in particular terrorism ”.

For the time being, Mathilde Panot is worried about the situation in the country:

"We have taken an authoritarian turn which is very worrying, which must absolutely be stopped",

she concludes.
