Documentation from the investigation file of the Israel Police

Local council member Jisr a-Zarqa was shot Tuesday morning by a masked man in the evening as he walked down the village's main street, a few dozen meters from the Grand Mosque.

"There were a lot of other people on the street. I was walking home and suddenly from the direction of the center of the village a man ran in my direction and fired in my direction and fled."

Councilman and 50-year-old injured education portfolio holder Muhammad Lutfi Jarban described.

"I felt bad. I don't remember much of what happened next."

The anonymous man continued towards the home of Jarban's family, shot in the face his 33-year-old nephew, wounded another 20-year-old lightly and walked away.

All the wounded were evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera.

The nephew was transferred from there to Rambam Hospital in Haifa and has already been operated on. Jarban, who was injured in the leg by two bullets, is still bleeding, hospitalized, and will probably have to undergo surgery.

Lutfi Jarban complained to the police that he had been threatened many months ago. The village police point and senior commanders. "I and some new council members came to make a change.

Maybe it's related, "Jarban told Walla! NEWS." Unfortunately, the police did not do much, and to this day the suspects have been free.

When I call to ask what happens every time I have been told 'in therapy'.

So yesterday it could have ended in murder, "he added.

"It's not by mistake," Jarban explained.

"There were people around me and he came to me, I collapsed. I thought it was the end of my life. Until now I have not digested, maybe came on purpose to murder me and failed him," he added.

"I have been seeing my murder close to the wall for some time. I have told the police chiefs more than once if something happens to me, if they kill me - you are guilty."

A councilor said that last September someone had already been caught "on hot" firing at his home.

"He's been arrested, but it's a gang and the police know exactly who they are. They say we are not cooperating, but that's not true. All they have to do is catch them," Jarban explained.

"If the police do not take the matter seriously it will end in murder."

Apart from the police, Jarban also pointed an accusing finger at former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Internal Security Amir Ohana.

"It's a prime minister who only cares about himself, and a minister who sleeps standing up."

Violence wandered from Jisr a-Zarqa to plowing, and in a desperate village: "Water has reached the soul"

"This incident is crossing a red line."

According to him, the police are not really interested in going in and immersing themselves in the problem of violence in Arab society.

"They need to wake up, I don't think they can say they don't know," Jarban explained.

"A masked man does not leave the house masked, there are cameras everywhere in the village. If an Arab kills a Jew and the Arab escapes, then within a few hours they find him."

He clarified that "in Jisr a-Zarqa everything is known, it is a small village. The police know who the criminals are but turn a blind eye. I call on the police to come, we will cooperate."

"This incident is also crossing a red line in Jisr a-Zarqa," said local council chief Sheikh Murad Amash, who has already visited the hospital with council member Jarban.

"This is a shooting of a public representative, a council member who gives his all for the benefit of the public. He does not deserve to be rewarded in this way," he clarified.

The head of the council added that "tonight I spoke with the commander of the Basel police point and with Chief of Staff Jamal Khachrush, the head of the police directorate for improving service in Arab society, and I told him that it was impossible to continue living like this."

He said, "This is an incident that comes after a series of incidents of arson and shooting at other vehicles in the locality. Khachrush tells me 'do not worry, we are about it, we are taking care of it', but in the meantime the residents are all crying," Amash explained.

"I sent a letter to the Minister of Internal Security and asked for an urgent meeting with the district commander and the principal. I have not yet received a reply, I am waiting."
