The Iranian Fars News Agency reported that the prominent nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was exposed today to an assassination attempt near the Iranian capital, Tehran.
The agency reported that Fakhrizadeh was assassinated in a bombing and shooting attack in Absard, Damavand district near Tehran, adding that efforts are underway to rescue him and the other wounded with him.
The news received from Damavand indicated that the sound of an explosion was heard on Mustafa Khomeini Street in the city of Absard before an exchange of fire took place targeting a car.
According to the agency, three or four terrorists were killed.
Fakhrizadeh is considered one of the most prominent and highly ranked nuclear scientists in the field of scientific research for the missile industry.
