Just under a month until Christmas - for many the most important festival of the year.
Topic in the “Maybrit Illner” talk: Celebrating or not celebrating in the Corona winter?
How long will the
Corona winter be
?
This was the question at the "Maybrit Illner" talk
Manuela Schwesig
makes it clear for the holidays: family get-togethers yes, parties no!
Chancellery chief Helge Braun announces: There will be more
rapid
tests
Ranga Yogeshwar suggests that civil servants and managers should
donate
their
13th salary to cultural workers
.
“Maybrit Illner” - these guests discussed the next few weeks with the pandemic
Dr.
Helge Braun (CDU)
- Head of the Federal Chancellery
Manuela Schwesig (SPD)
- Prime Minister of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
Michael Mittermeier
- cabaret artist, author of the book "I think I've already had it: The Corona Chronicles."
Ranga Yogeshwar
- physicist and science journalist
Dr.
Sibylle Katzenstein
- doctor from Berlin-Neukölln with a "corona focus practice".
Prof. Dr.
Ulrike Lüken
- Psychological Psychotherapist, Professor at the Humboldt University Berlin
Christmas and the end of a special year are coming up.
The guests in
Maybrit Illner's ZDF Talk
debated on Thursday (November 25th) about a possible easing of the festive season and how things will go in the new year.
Shutdown after shutdown - with short openings in between?
Chancellery chief Helge Braun
makes it clear right from the start: The main purpose of the current rules is to allow a slight
relaxation over the holidays
.
Illner tries to loosen Braun from the reserve.
Open at Christmas - and then everything all over again?
And quotes Frank Ulrich Montgomery from the World Medical Association: "It will be a festival with a risk of death!"
Braun at “Maybrit Illner”: When great-uncle Karl isn't allowed to sit at the table, people don't understand
But Braun does not jump on this train: “If there is a rule that means that Grand Uncle Karl is guaranteed not to sit at the table at Christmas, then that would not be understood by people and would not be what we are would bring the decisive advantage in the Corona crisis. "
Angela Merkel's Chancellery Minister
makes it clear once again: Families with older members should
use
the early start of the holiday and the week before the Christmas holidays for
self-quarantine
so that they do not infect anyone over the festive period: "The relaxation is for family get-togethers - not the big New Year's party !
It shouldn't take place! "
Too strict rules would not work, confirms psychology expert Ulrike Lüke.
And
Ranga Yogeshwar
speaks of "civil disobedience" that might break out if Christmas celebrations were banned.
Lüken points out that many people - after the acute anxiety states in spring - now
have to struggle
primarily with
depression
.
A ray of hope is important.
Appeal to "Maybrit Illner": 400 corona deaths a day ethically completely unjustifiable
Illner draws attention back to the current shutdown measures.
Schwesig threatens: "If you don't make an effort, you face further tough measures!" That would then be a ban on alcohol and exit restrictions, adds Illner.
And Braun argues with the death rate, currently around 400 corona deaths a day in Germany - and the trend is rising, which he finds "ethically completely unjustifiable".
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's head of government @ManuelaSchwesig wants to stick to the 50.
There needs to be strict rules for super hotspots, she said.

Sibylle Katzenstein talks about the on-site situation: 1300 corona patients have now been tested in her practice and none of her employees and none of the other patients have been infected so far.
With good protection -
FFP2 masks
and
comprehensive rapid tests
- that is quite possible.
She does not understand the current announcement, fewer tests despite increasing numbers.
There is no answer from the politicians involved.
General practitioner Sibylle Katzestein @dr_sibylle runs a "Covid 19 focus parxis" in Berlin.
Your experience: Everyone can protect themselves with simple measures.
You don't have to be infected with Corona.

“Maybrit Illner” Corona Talk: There are no quick tests
Braun comments on
the
quick
tests and admits: "Unfortunately we don't have enough for everyone." There are still licensing questions to be clarified.
Keyword vaccine.
Doctor Katzenstein reports again from the practice: “How should that take place?
Do we want to do it like in Asia, where everyone gets in line and then gets vaccinated? ”If the
federal government
needs the support of general practitioners, why isn't there already planning and communication with the medical practices?
Schwesig interjects that the organization could only begin when the vaccine is available.
Ranga Yogeshwar disagrees and agrees with the doctor that communication will be an essential factor in vaccination.
Braun also sees it this way: “If there is 'fake news' that influences our vaccination campaign - that would be really bad, we have to be very, very careful.
That mustn't happen. "
Yogeshwar demands from Illner: Officials should donate 13th monthly salary to cultural workers!
At the end, the
comedian Michael Mittermeier brought up
the plight of the cultural workers again: “There are hundreds of thousands of people who have no job!” And many who the help would not reach.
Connected from Hennef, Yogeshwar surprises with an unusual suggestion: "Why not say to many officials: This year there is not the 13th monthly salary - it goes to Mittermeier & Friends."
Mittermeier himself quickly decides that he personally doesn't need any money - but why not create an equivalent to short-time work money for cultural workers?
“Give me Olaf Scholz's number.
Politicians have to learn to understand the industry! "
Michael Mittermeier @M_Mittermeier:
"Why not finally found a culture task force? All the people who work there lose a whole year. Give me Olaf Scholz's cell phone number."
