This is shown by a ranking published by the travel portal “Travelcircus”.
It was analyzed how often the 1012 German small towns appear on the Instagram photo platform.
Füssen stands unchallenged at the top with 226 083 contributions.
That is over 56,000 more than in the previous year.
The city owes this primarily to Neuschwanstein Castle.
Bad Tölz landed again in 11th place. 64 996 posts from Bad Tölz are on Instagram.
Only 1300 entries were missing for the top ten.
The Tölzer Kurier spoke to the deputy spa director Susanne Frey-Allgaier about the good result.

Ms. Frey-Allgaier, why do you think Bad Tölz does so well in this ranking?
One time, I think it's because we haven't been around that long.
We have only had our own channel on the Instagram platform for two and a half years.
The number of posts and hashtags is increasing even faster than with channels that have been around for a long time.
However, we operate our channel quite intensively, so we are pushing the increase.
But of course our beautiful photo motifs also play an important role.

How important is the ranking or the result for the city's tourism advertising?
It is becoming more and more important I would say.
Much in tourism is now related to emotionality.
The best way to convey this is through images - images that are particularly easy to share and disseminate on social media.
The use of so-called hashtags with the title Bad Tölz also benefit our marketing strategies.
As a result, many people can be reached quickly not only in the region, but throughout Germany - especially young people.
They were visiting us more this year.
But more and more people are also using social media in general.
Expansion potential for Instagram profile
Will the tourist info use Instagram even more in the future?
Yes, in any case.
We are already doing that.
Last year we were eleven of the most popular small towns in Germany.
Nevertheless, there is definitely still potential for expansion.
My goal would be to get into the top ten.
To make this happen, we will continue to invest a lot in our online marketing strategies.
