The spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov, criticized today the ongoing hostile approach taken by Germany towards Russia, pointing out that German calls to deal with Moscow from a "position of strength" led in the past to tragic consequences for Berlin and the whole world.
TASS quoted Konashenkov as saying that "recent calls by German Defense Minister Annegret Kramp Karenbauer to dialogue with Russia on disarmament from a" position of strength "and her call by the German parliament" Bundestag "to maintain this position in the future will not enhance European security.
Konashenkov pointed out that Russia did not rush to respond to Karenbauer's statements, hoping that "reasonable politicians in Germany correct these statements themselves and bring to their minds what such calls led to during the twentieth century, but unfortunately this did not happen."
Konashenkov explained that the German Minister of Defense recently held her position, but "like her previous counterpart, she shows her inability to provide anything important to enhance security in Europe."
Konashenkov ridiculed Karenbauer's calls that simulate what German politicians have launched on more than one occasion about building relations with Russia, considering that her statements are like "attempts by a young pupil to compensate for his lack of awareness and understanding by saying ridiculous things out loud."
