MK Merav Michaeli (Labor) today (Friday) petitioned the Tel Aviv District Court to issue an urgent injunction against the party chairman Amir Peretz's attempts to cancel the primaries and transfer the authority to elect the party chairman and the list to the party conference.
Michaeli, who petitioned with former Minister Beiga Shochat and former MKs Amar Bar-Lev and Michal Biran, wants to instruct the conference that it is not allowed to deny the authority and fundamental right of all party members and to pass the
primaries.
This authority and right is in the hands of the conference itself.

She said, "Unfortunately and astonished, Amir Peretz strives to act in complete violation of the long-standing democratic tradition, to change the world order in the Labor Party in an unconstitutional manner and to deny the fundamental right of all party members by transferring exclusive suffrage to the conference. The primaries will certainly lead to the final elimination of the Labor Party. "
"Therefore, I petition the district court to overturn the decision. The Labor Party is a value platform belonging to its members and friends, not to arranging personal jobs," Michaeli added.
