The efforts put on hold by the municipality of Tutzing to get the title “resort” sparked discussion.

The tourist association protects private landlords.

Tutzing

- is it a boycott?

This word was uttered in the Tutzing main committee: Private landlords of holiday apartments boycotted the community by refusing to report the number of overnight stays.

The municipality needs this data for the predicate “resort”.

Because up to now it has only been able to prove just under 50,000 overnight stays per year, but it has to be around 70,000.

Therefore, the congregation is leaving the preparatory work for the predicate, as reported, on hold.

This is now causing controversy.

The business development agency gwt is not exactly enthusiastic about this decision, as is the Tutzinger development association for tourism.

Its chairman Kristina Danschacher takes the scolded private landlords under protection.

With them there is “a certain dissatisfaction”.

She does not want to publicly specify what is meant by this.

The people in charge of the community, she concludes, should have sat down at the table with the landlords and asked them where they were wrong - then they believed they would have received the information they needed.

Such conflicts are no stranger to gwt tourism director Klaus Götzl.

“I also know landlords who do not want to give the data,” he confirms, without going into the reasons.

Götzl very much regrets the decision by the Tutzinger to let the work rest.

He believes that such a rating brings massive advantages, it is an award for the community as well as for hosts and other providers.

“The municipality of Herrsching receives around 80,000 euros a year from the visitor's tax made possible in this way,” he argues.

He sees the best opportunities in earmarked use.

Cycle paths without potholes and with good signage, discounts on admissions to events, museums, guided tours or bike rentals could benefit the locals as well as tourists.

Kristina Danschacher doesn't really want to understand why a number of other parishes have achieved such ratings, but Tutzing can't.

In the main committee, Mayor Marlene Greinwald had stated that they are often smaller municipalities that do not have to provide evidence of so many overnight stays and that they often have larger hotels and thus higher numbers.

Götzl is still confident: "I'm sure that Tutzing can prove more than 70,000 overnight stays annually." He refers to the new P3 clinic, the numbers of which have not yet been recorded.

The number of overnight stays in the region - also in Tutzing - has risen this year, probably also because of the travel restrictions abroad.

The length of stay of the guests increased from June to September from 2.5 to 3.1 days on average.

In any case, gwt will make another attempt to help Tutzing achieve the rating.

He even thinks it is conceivable that Tutzing could aim for an even higher rating level - namely that of the “climatic health resort” that the community has been allowed to run for decades.
