The Fürstenfeldbruck district intends to use recycled building materials for future construction projects.
A discussion broke out in the Energy, Environment and Planning Committee (EUPA) as to whether economic efficiency should also play a role.
District
- Jakob Drexler (UBV) had campaigned for recycled building materials with his application.
According to its information, the district of Fürstefeldbruck has more than 1000 cubic meters of recycled building materials stored in the Jesenwang building rubble dump.
The largest part is high-quality recycled concrete that can be used as a substructure and in some cases also for the production of fresh concrete.
Landfill could be relieved
This could relieve the pressure on the scarce landfill capacities, stretch gravel mining in the region and reduce the impact on nature.
Johann Wörle (CSU) welcomed these considerations, but only wants to implement the requirements for projects where it is economically justifiable.
Jan Halbauer (Greens) sees a 100 percent circular economy as a necessary goal, although one should not look at profitability.
Norbert Seidl, SPD district councilor and mayor in Puchheim, referred to the request that recycling building materials should initially be given preference in planning and tendering.
The profitability can still be considered when awarding the contract.
Johann Wörle's supplementary application was rejected by a majority by the EUPA members, and Jakob Drexler's application was subsequently accepted unanimously.
