Nivea group Beiersdorf: noise in the multicultural board

2020-11-28T16:25:38.066Z

The Nivea Group has no luck with its international board. Two posts are to be reassigned. The works councils in particular would like it to be more German.

Beiersdorf boss

Stefan De Loecker

(53) is considered an ambitious, but nevertheless sociable manager.

The massive Belgian has spent most of his career in sales;

there he learned to approach people.

He also likes to talk to his employees.

But now De Loecker is struggling with the top staff.

Two important positions on the seven-person board of the Hamburg skin care and adhesives group will probably be filled soon.

It is certain that the commitment of Chief Financial Officer

Dessi Temperley

(47) will expire in the summer.

Apparently, neither De Loecker nor Supervisory Board Chairman

Reinhard Pöllath

(72) are convinced of her.

The former Nestlé manager also lacks support in the organization.

In addition, the guest appearance of board member

Asim Naseer

(51), responsible for the core brand Nivea, could end soon.

De Loecker and the Pakistani, who came from Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 2019, don't seem to get along.

Sometimes there is a crash between the two, say insiders.

One reason is the weak condition of Nivea.

The brand accounts for three quarters of Beiersdorf's consumer business, and the numbers put De Loecker's medium-term planning at risk.

When the nine-month figures were presented at the end of October, Beiersdorf questioned whether the company could achieve a margin of 16 to 17 percent with its skin care products by 2023, as promised.
