"Scandalized" by the sequence, several ministers considered that this type of slippage was "a problem for the Republic", without however casting shame on all the police.

The emotion is still alive.

Since the publication on Thursday of a video showing several police officers beating up a producer on Saturday night in Paris, the left and the presidential majority have supported the victim.

Especially since the latter says that the members of the police force pronounced racist insults against him, at the same time as they beat him.

From the Elysee Palace, Emmanuel Macron said he was

“shocked”

by the video, according to comments reported by Europe 1 and France Info, confirmed Friday morning at

Le Figaro

.

Invited to 20H of France 2 Thursday evening to react, Gérald Darmanin announced that he had

"requested the suspension of the three police officers"

, in front of these images

"unspeakable, extremely shocking"

.

"As soon as the facts are established by justice, I will also ask for their dismissal"

, also certified the Minister of the Interior, while the Paris prosecutor's office opened an investigation against the officials.

The Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, said he was

"scandalized by these images"

Thursday evening on LCI.

The Keeper of the Seals, however, warned that

"we must be careful"

and not mix things up.

“To say that the Republic has a problem with police violence is not true.

But every police violence is a problem for the Republic ”

, he wanted to recall.

"There are police officers, lawyers or even racist bakers, but to say that the police are racist is not true"

, continued Éric Dupond-Moretti.

"We must do investigations"

Asked by LCI on Friday morning, Marc Fesneau, the Minister in charge of Relations with Parliament, also said he was

“shocked”

, and even

“revolted”

by these images.

Like Éric Dupond-Moretti, he stressed that these behaviors should not be generalized to the entire police force.

But

"it is not because it is a tiny minority that it is necessary to leave that under the carpet, and not to sanction"

.

"It seems that the revocation is necessary"

, he also judged.

“The gendarme, the policeman, it is the man or the woman who must defend the weak, the fragile.

Obviously, police violence is a problem for the Republic.

Whenever there is police violence, investigations must be carried out, they must be sanctioned ”,

also indicated Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the Minister responsible for Industry, on RMC / BFMTV.

"Conversely, each violence against the police is a problem for the Republic, and here too we must be uncompromising with regard to this violence,"

she recalled.
