The Appraisal Bureau stated that the Secretary-General Recruitment Committee established earlier has decided to appoint Wei Xiangdong as the new Secretary-General after open recruitment and strict selection locally and overseas.
Wei Xiangdong is currently a professor in the Department of Economics of Lingnan University and an expert in educational economics. He also serves as the director of the Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Institute and the director of the Chinese Economic Research Department.
He was the Dean of the School of Social Sciences of Lingnan University and the Supervisor and Vice Chairman of the Council of Lingnan University's School of Continuing Education. He has also held teaching and research positions in the UK and the Mainland.
Yung Yongqi, chairman of the HKEAA, said that Wei Xiangdong has served in the higher education sector in Hong Kong for many years. With his research using e-learning and rich administrative management experience, he believes that he can continue and further enhance the services of the HKEAA.
Rong also thanked the current Secretary-General Su Guosheng for his contributions over the past three years, especially during the epidemic, leading the HKEAA to successfully complete this year's diploma examination, becoming one of the few assessment institutions in the world that can successfully hold large-scale public examinations.
Wei Xiangdong said that he is very honored to be appointed as the Secretary-General, and he looks forward to the cooperation of the staff of the HKEAA to continue to promote the professional development of research and assessment and implement the HKEAA's concept of "evaluation promotes learning".
