The French Bishops' Conference (CEF) announced that it had lodged an appeal with the Council of State on Friday, November 27 to contest the level limited to 30 people for religious ceremonies decided by the government.
She also indicated "to
have an appointment on Sunday
" at 6 pm "
with the Prime Minister
", hoping "
a real moment of consultation
".

The application for interim relief was "
filed this (Friday) morning
", said a spokesperson for the CEF, Vincent Neymon, "
preventively, even before the publication of the decree
" detailing the measures decided for worship.
The episcopate qualifies as "
serious error
" the confirmation Thursday by Jean Castex that the maximum gauge for the resumption of religious ceremonies with public this weekend remained at 30 people.
This measure, described as "
unrealistic
" and "
inapplicable
", was announced by President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday evening, but a new proposal was to be made to them on Thursday.
The CEF pleads for a gauge fixed according to the size of the building, with a space of 4m2 around each faithful and a filling rate of a third of the church.
"
Pending the outcome of these two steps, the rules set by the Prime Minister are in force even if we are all aware of the great difficulties in which these government decisions place the faithful
", affirms the episcopate.
