Sports halls and other sports equipment may be closed, but the French have not put away their sneakers.
During the first confinement, the practice of running jumped by 55%, according to a study carried out by Withings, the French manufacturer of connected objects for Le Figaro.
The joggers kept up the pace during the summer.
They have been joined by new followers since the implementation of the second lockdown.
This time, the increase is 80% compared to last year!
The time spent on running remains constant, between 41 and 45 minutes per outing.
Another practice on the rise: sports at home.
Whether it's pedaling on a home trainer, doing yoga, doing abs ... whatever, everything is good to exercise in the living room.
The increase was particularly strong during the first confinement: 90% more practitioners, with several sessions per week.
The second confinement results in an increase of only 25% in home sports practice, undoubtedly linked to a lesser use of telework than in March and April.
The bike slows down ...
Paradoxically, the practice of cycling is in decline.
The 1st confinement had seen the number of cyclists drop nearly a third.
The end of confinement had allowed amateurs to reconnect with the little queen for sports outings or business trips.
Since the second confinement, the bikes have been put in the closet, with a drop of more than a third in the number of practitioners.
We also pedal a little shorter: 45 minutes on average per output, against 55 minutes during deconfinement.
The first frosts of winter are perhaps not foreign to this reluctance of the amateur cyclist.
... and swimming plunges
Not surprisingly, swimming is the cost of confinement, the pools being closed.
But according to Withings, a quarter of swimmers continue to practice their sport.
Data anonymization requires, impossible to know where swimming is practiced!
But those can take the opportunity to swim even longer than before.
