The Christmas lights are hanging, the Christmas tree has been set up, and the “winter revitalization” concept is starting in Schongau's old town.

Together with the city of Schongau, the business people want to turn the center into a destination for window shopping.

There will even be mulled wine, but only until 6 p.m.

Schongau

- Vice Mayor Daniela Puzzovio presented the first attraction for Schongau's old town a few weeks ago: The Ferstlhaus on Marienplatz will open its doors until Christmas.

There, retailers, artists and artisans present their goods in a so-called pop-up store.

A temporary offer is tempting where the Sparkasse and, for many years, the Elektro-Köpf store were located.

Every Thursday from 12 noon to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can be inspired (we reported).

The opening of the pop-up store was yesterday.

The team around Daniela Puzzovio has given a lot of thought

At the same time, a team headed by Puzzovios has given a lot of thought to how to liven up the old town in winter.

"Unfortunately, many things have been broken or postponed because of Corona," she regrets.

Above all, the Christmas market cannot take place.

For this, however, two stalls are now being set up, one at the Ballenhaus and one in the middle on Marienplatz.

There two local restaurateurs provide food and drinks.

And yes, there should even be mulled wine.

However, this can only be served until 6 p.m.

So that Marienplatz doesn't look so barren, the planters were not completely wintered for the first time, but planted with small fir trees in consultation with the city nursery.

Business people from the Altstadt advertising association provided the decoration.

And the lighting on the fountain roof could bring an even more festive atmosphere.

These can be borrowed from Christmas market organizer Hermann Gleich, who doesn't need the many lights himself this year.

Lots of little things should result in a nice overall picture

Many little things should give a nice overall picture for young and old.

The city councilors are also allowed to take part, even if they don't know anything about their luck, as the deputy town hall chief reports with a sly smile.

At the time of the conversation with the Schongauer Nachrichten, the proposals had not yet been sent.

The town hall windows on the first floor will be converted into an advent calendar.

Each of the 24 city councilors can design a door.

Of course, she won't reveal exactly how she imagines it.

Just this much: Mayor Falk Sluyterman did not get a window that he could step in as a joker if necessary.

The advertising community kicked off a few more things.

This year everything is under the motto "Sterntaler".

Maria Mader from the board of directors has already designed the poster based on the fairy tale that can be admired at Löwenstrasse 8.

“It's a beautiful Christmas fairy tale that goes well with the motto 'buy locally, stay at home'”, says Mader.

You can collect the Sterntaler during the advertising community's shopping campaign.

There is then a shopping voucher for a booklet full of star stickers.

In addition, you can win shopping checks in the Christmas raffle, and the Association of Self-Employed People also gives away special prizes.

There will be a special fairy tale reading tour for children

The children can take a special reading tour through the old town.

In the shop windows of participating shops you can find a page from the fairy tale book “Die Sterntaler” with information on where to go next.

The start is at the Weltladen in Lechtorstraße.

Library manager Kornelia Funke also takes up the motto Sterntaler and decorates the windows accordingly.

There is also a saying from the literary Advent calendar every day until Christmas.

"A lot of ideas develop and a homely atmosphere is created," says Susanne Tischner from the advertising association.

"Even when the times are sad, everything can be done beautifully," says Maria Mader.

Cooperation in particular is an important aspect, adds Kornelia Funke.

Vice Mayor Puzzovio hopes that all the actions will encourage people to go out, stroll and feel at home in Schongau.

And what about the “winter revitalization”?

Even after Christmas, the old town is to be decorated according to a motto for a month.

There are already many ideas for January and February, according to Puzzovio.
