Self-defense leader loses battle against covid-19, AMLO mourns the loss of his friend | Video | CNN

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador sent his condolences to the relatives of Dr. José Manuel Mireles, who died of covid-19 this Wednesday.

Mireles is recognized for being the leader of the self-defense groups in Michoacán, civil groups that in 2013 took up arms alleging the inaction of the authorities in the face of the violence of the cartels that disputed control of the state.
