Plastic artist and sculptor Aktham Abdel Hamid was one of the six creators who were chosen by the Ministry of Culture to honor them at the celebration of the Syrian Culture Days 2020.

When reviewing the creative path of the sculptor Abdul Hamid, we find that the most important feature of it was his active contribution in transferring the Syrian composition to numerous international forums and showing its splendor and beauty.

The sculptor Abdel Hamid was born in Jableh in 1955 and studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Sculpture, to graduate in 1981 and establish the Institute of Applied Arts a few years later and take over its management in 2001, after which he was appointed Director of Fine Arts in the Ministry of Culture in 2010.

The most important station for Abdul Hamid in the field of cultural management was his assumption of the management of the Syrian Cultural Center in the Spanish capital Madrid in 2013, where he set up several joint Syrian-Spanish sculptural forums there, and the works accomplished during which he still adorned many squares and gardens in Spain, and then he became an advisor to the Minister of Culture in 2015

Abdel Hamid won many prizes inside and outside Syria for his outstanding creative career, including the Appreciation Award from the International Small Sculpture Exhibition, the Appreciation Award from the Alexandria Biennial, the Gold Award for Sculpture at the Biennial of Love in Lattakia, and the Second International Prize at the International Sculpture Forum in Dubai.

Sculptor Abdel Hamid held many solo exhibitions in several cities, including Damascus, Aleppo, Amman, Cairo and Manama, and participated in many group exhibitions in Damascus, Lattakia, Beirut, Sharjah, Alexandria, Budapest and Paris, and was a permanent guest in local, Arab and international sculptural forums.
