Zacherlweg soon to be a one-way street? Too small a path for too much traffic

The Zacherlweg in Taufkirchen is (too) often used as a shortcut.

The connection between Dorfstrasse and Tegernseer Landstrasse is not designed for so much traffic.

It crashes again and again.

Now the council has an idea.

Taufkirchen

- The Zacherlweg has not been a quiet side street for a long time.

The small street is a popular connection between Dorfstraße and Tegernseer Landstraße.

Accidents happen again and again at the crossroads with Tegernseer Landstrasse.

And residents repeatedly complained about the noise and stench and urged the community to find a solution to the traffic problem.

A traffic planner should now find one.

That has just been decided by the building committee of the municipal council.

Soon a one-way street?

The committee has discussed the Zacherlweg several times.

It's not as bad here as in the Hohenbrunner Weg, which many use as a route to Brunnthal and where many attempts have been made to relieve the residents.

But the new Edeka store on Riegerweg attracts more traffic.

And in the foreseeable future, the Riegerhöfe and other residential projects that are pending in Winning will not get any better.

And because many drivers do not adhere to the prescribed speed limit of 30, residents have repeatedly written to the mayor.

After consulting with the police and fire brigade, he had now proposed to designate the Zacherlweg as a one-way street and made three suggestions to the building committee: to mark the Zacherlweg as a one-way street or - what the residents would like best - a one-way street towards the center of the town, but only up to the residential area so that residents can continue to drive home from both directions.

An idea that would also reduce the risk of accidents at the intersection.

Actually too small for so much traffic

Thomas Vieweg (CSU) lacked an overall view in all of the proposals.

"You also have to look at the traffic figures in the wider area and not make an isolated regulation." One thing is clear: The Zacherlweg is actually too small for the heavy traffic.

But if you displace traffic at this point, it will reappear somewhere else.

Michael Lilienthal (Free Voters) was also critical of the fact that only the residents in Zacherlweg were surveyed in advance.

He asked for an expert opinion.

You need a better basis for a decision.

And Alfred Widmann (SPD) raised concerns that each decision could only apply for a maximum of three years.

"As soon as we get closer to the Zacherlweg with the development, we have to look at everything again anyway."

Mayor Ullrich Sander (non-party) finally suggested that a traffic planner take on the problem and also examine the effects on the wider area - also with regard to future developments in the vicinity.

Everyone agreed with this - even if “we bridle the horse from behind,” as Rosemarie Weber (SPD) said.

In the future, it should be better to avoid letting the citizens make suggestions and then commissioning a transport planner.
