"Comprehensive security" law: "Article 24, symbol of the unnecessary decline of our freedoms"

2020-11-29T04:24:53.476Z

TRIBUNE - The public life of our country has been monopolized for several days by an absurd debate. The executive is striving to pass a law that is as superfluous for the protection of law enforcement as it is harmful to press freedom, argues the philosopher and MEP (LR).

Who would have thought that France would see again threatened the fundamental freedoms that one would have thought to have been acquired forever?

The debate on Article 24 of the Comprehensive Security Act is yet another symptom of the drift that we are following.

Once again, we would like to oppose freedom to security - as if, in order to ensure the essential protection of our police and gendarmes, it was urgent to revisit the law of the press ... Once again, our rulers give in to the temptation of a superfluous and dangerous text offered as an inexpensive gift to exhausted police forces, who in the field often lack the essentials.

Another law, intended to join the thousands of pages of a law that has become talkative, redundant, incomprehensible, which can no longer prevent those who harm no one.
