In the video: Report in Iran: The father of the nuclear program was eliminated near Tehran (Photo: GPO, Edited by: Assaf Drori)

Senior Iranians point the finger of blame at Israel after Muhsin Farhizada, the father of its military nuclear program, was assassinated near Tehran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called the assassins "terrorists," while Hussein Dahkan, the military adviser to Supreme Leader Khamenei, said "Israel is pushing for a full-scale war."

Zarif noted, "This cowardice, along with serious indications of Israeli involvement, is indicative of desperation."

He added that "Iran calls on the international community and especially the European Union to put an end to these double standards and condemn this action."

Subsequently, Adviser Dahkan, who is running for president of Iran next year, used more harsh language.

"In the last days of the political life of their perverted ally - the Zionists are striving to intensify and increase the pressure on Iran to go to a full-scale war. We will pursue the murderers of the martyred saint to make them regret their actions."
