The Labor Party conference today (Sunday) authorized the chairman, Amir Peretz, to conduct negotiations with Blue and White.
In an afternoon vote, it was decided to hold limited primaries in which only conference members and not all Labor members could vote.
Party leaders argued that the decisions would help "strengthen the party and create real opportunities for new and significant forces to join forces".
On the other hand, MK Merav Michaeli expressed strong opposition to the move, which gives Chairman Peretz a lot of power.
At the end of the vote, MK Michaeli called on members and party members to "wait for the court to decide on the constitutionality of the vote."

According to the results of the vote, 1,639 (69%) of the conference members supported the transfer of authority to Peretz to negotiate with Blue and White and other political bodies. 722 conference members opposed (30%), and 21 abstained (1%).
In addition, 1,566 members of the Labor Conference (66%) voted in favor of transferring the primaries to the party leadership and the Knesset to the conference.
781 opposed (33%), and 33 abstained (1%).
