Rescue operations are underway after a flood incident left 13 workers trapped in an underground coal mine in Leiyang city of China's Hunan province, reports China's state broadcaster CCTV.


At the time of the flood, around 11:30 a.m. local time on Sunday, there were 15 people working underground at the Yuanjiangshan Coal Mine.

Two people were able to escape, CCTV reported.

Three rescue teams with more than 60 people and three drain pumps have been deployed to rescue the remaining 13 workers, the Ministry of Emergency Management said.
