A prosecutor's statement was submitted to the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court today (Monday) by the police and the State Attorney's Office, with the intention of filing an indictment within four days against Rabbi Netanel Deri of Lod, who has been accused of sexual offenses by several students over several years.

His detention was extended by four days.

The rabbi, through his defense attorney Sharon Nahari, continues to deny what is attributed to him.

It was learned that among other things he will be charged with offenses of sodomy, indecent acts and more.

As previously reported in "Israel Today", the rabbi was arrested earlier this month after police were called to separate in a clash between Hasidim in Lod.

It then became clear that the background to the confrontation was an argument between his opponents who attributed him to sexual offenses and supporters.

Following that incident, police received the names of two former students, one now an adult and the other a minor.

They showed up at the police station and revealed what they claimed the rabbi had done to them.

The rabbi's detention has been extended several times since then, and more complainants have appeared at the police station, despite calls from the rabbi's supporters for a verdict on who will testify against him.

During the investigation, confrontations took place between the rabbi and some of the complainants and each side maintained its version.

According to the Humiliation Area Police, the investigation ended today and so the prosecution announced the filing of a prosecutor’s statement with intent to file an indictment.

"The investigation raised suspicions that the rabbi used to invite some of his minor students to his room using his authority, and there he committed sexual offenses including sodomy over the years," the police said.

It should be noted that in addition to evidence, the police also have a video documenting at least one act of a minor.

Rabbi Deri is a rabbi of Breslav Chassidut in Lod.

He is the father of 14 children, and for years has run the "Holy Temple Congregation" with hundreds of students.
