Gas prices, termination of mutual insurance, deconfinement ... What changes in December

2020-11-30T20:24:16.274Z

In addition to the deadlines linked to the health crisis, several changes are to be expected. Here is what you need to know.

The second phase of deconfinement "

in three stages

", announced by President Emmanuel Macron at the end of November, will undoubtedly be the major meeting of this month of December.

From the 15th, in fact, confinement will be replaced by a curfew ranging from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

It will then be possible to travel without authorization during the day, as well as on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

The reopening of

"cinemas, theaters and museums"

will be authorized.

This second stage is, however, conditional on a drop in contamination to “

5,000 per day

”, specified the President of the Republic.

In parallel with these changes related to the health context, other innovations are to be expected.

Increase in regulated gas prices

In the wake of world prices, the regulated gas sales tariffs applied by Engie will increase by 2.4% on December 1.

This increase is 0.6% for customers who use gas for cooking, 1.4% for those who have dual use, cooking and hot water, and 2.5% for homes that heat themselves. gas,

”said the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) in a press release.

Since this summer and until the end of February 2021, regulated gas prices have been subject to a smoothing mechanism put in place by the government.

The reduction in the tariff on July 1 was thus deliberately limited, in order to then be able to avoid a too sudden rise in prices at the end of the year in the wake of the rebound in gas prices.

The law provides for the gradual phasing out by 2023 of regulated gas sales tariffs (TRV).

They are already removed for professional consumers as of December 1.

Christmas bonus

Created in 1998, under the government of Lionel Jospin, the Christmas bonus is paid each year to beneficiaries of social minima (specific solidarity allowance (ASS), retirement equivalent allowance (AER), monthly lump sum bonus for resumption of activity and active solidarity income (RSA)).

According to the Family File website, it will be renewed this year and should be paid by CAF and the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) between December 11 and 14.

The amount is 152.45 euros for a single person without children and up to 442.10 euros for a couple with four children.

Extended mutual fund termination conditions

As of December 1, it will no longer be necessary to wait for the anniversary date of the complementary health insurance contract to terminate it.

Termination may be made, free of charge, at any time, after one year of subscription.

This new right applies to new contracts but also to those in effect on December 1.

This novelty is the result of a law promulgated on July 14, 2019 which provoked the indignation of actors in the sector.

Last weeks to modify your tax credit

Donations, the employment of a home help for the household or even childcare give the right to an income tax credit.

Each year, in January, the tax administration grants an advance of 60% of the amount of this tax credit.

Thus the advance may be too large if these expenses have decreased over the past year.

Therefore, part or all of this amount must be reimbursed in the summer - when the balance of the tax credit (40%) is paid.

To avoid such manipulations, it is possible to “

modulate

” or refuse this advance until January 8 and thus avoid having to repay an “

overpayment

” next summer.
