"The assassination of scientist Fahrizda will never stop the course of the country's nuclear program, but will only increase its pace," Iranian Defense Minister Amir Khatami said during mourning ceremonies for scientist Muhsin Fahrizda, who was assassinated last Friday.
The minister further said that "no terrorist act or act of stupidity will go unanswered and the perpetrators will be punished."
He added that the assassination strengthened their decision to continue with the nuclear program.
Amir Khatami noted that "the military option has been on the table of our enemies for 40 years, but now it is under the table."
Just yesterday, the National Security Committee of the Iranian parliament approved the enrichment of uranium to a level of more than 20 percent, a degree of enrichment sufficient for the construction of nuclear weapons.
The committee decided to remove all restrictions and oversight of Iran's uranium enrichment program, restrictions that Iran undertook under the nuclear agreement with the six powers in 2015.
A spokesman for the committee, MP Muhammad Bakr Cliff, announced after the vote: "I hope our decision, with the help of God, will put an end to the nonsense and terrorism promoted by our enemies."
