After the raids on his house and his office, the neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, one of the last doctors who treated Diego Maradona, appeared to testify spontaneously at the San Isidro prosecutor's office, as confirmed by his lawyer, Julio Rivas.

Luque arrived after 9:10 to the courts of San Isidro, in Acassuso 476, to declare spontaneously before the prosecutors who are investigating the circumstances in which the death of the soccer star occurred.

The doctor was not charged, despite the fact that his rights were read to him during the operations.

"I am very calm and very confident," the 39-year-old professional said briefly.

Earlier, at the door of the doctor's house, in Adrogué, the lawyer Rivas explained to the press: "The idea is to present ourselves at the prosecutor's office, make ourselves available and as Leo has stated, he is going to testify."

Regarding the situation of his client in the file, he commented: "They did not leave a copy of the record, for me it is imputed because they raided him."

And about what he will say to the prosecution investigating the case, Rivas replied: "The same thing he said yesterday and all the questions that the four prosecutors want to ask him, he will answer them."

"A testimony is going to be taken from him, be it testimonial or as a defendant, he will testify spontaneously," he added.

When asked about Luque's role regarding the ex-footballer's health, the lawyer clarified: “He was a friend of Maradona, occasionally he was a doctor and Diego, due to a question of his friendship, trusted him.

Those who were around Maradona know what happened and what Luque's activity was, perfect, he operated on a neurosurgery and it came out perfect ”.

Rivas remarked that Luque did not direct any medical team nor did he decide to be admitted to Tigre's house and commented in this regard: “Maradona was a person who was aware of what he was doing and stopped doing.

I could decide what he wanted. "

"The nurses reported to Swiss Medical, Luque was not the head of any hospitalization, it was not like that, he will clarify it in the prosecution," added the lawyer and emphasized: "Maradona's heart for 20 years is the same, it is wrong.

They are looking for something because it is Maradona, in another cause it does not happen ”.

"I understand that they read him his rights as a defendant but we do not know if he was actually charged or is a witness. Yesterday a statement from the prosecution came out stating that there were no defendants, but yesterday they raided him. They did not leave a copy of the record, but for me it is accused because they raided him, "Rivas said.

On Sunday, the San Isidro judge Orlando Díaz, who is investigating Maradona's death, ordered the search of the home and private office of the doctor who treated the former soccer player, who died last Wednesday, November 25 of heart failure.

Luque's house is on 30 de Septiembre Street, in the center of Adrogué, Almirante Brown's district, and the clinic is located in a building on Avenida del Libertador at 5990, in the Belgrano neighborhood.

In the Libertador Office Business Center building they closed the sidewalk of the place, not allowing the entry of people, nothing more than the judicial personnel in charge of the prosecutor Laura Capra.

The raids were carried out in the early hours of this Sunday after the testimonial statement of the daughters Dalma, Gianinna and Jana, Maradona's three daughters, who asked that the medications that Luque and his team prescribed in the last months of treatment at the Ipensa clinics in La Plata and at the Olivos Clinic.

The statements of the three daughters of the Ten began on the night of this Saturday and ended at dawn this Sunday.

"If there is something I am responsible for with Diego, it is to love him, to take care of him, to extend his life and to improve it to the last. I did the impossible for that: I got him to access the psychologist, the psychiatrist ... I got what nobody could", Luque declared on Sunday, after the operations.

Dalma, Gianinna and Jana attribute to Luque the responsibility of having signed the medical discharge from the Olivos Clinic on November 11, where the doctor operated on him eight days before for a subdural hematoma.

Just on Saturday "they began to think that their father did not die of natural causes as said and now they want to know the truth of what happened," a source told

The doctor's lawyer denies that he was the DT's personal doctor.

"He was a friend of Maradona and based on that he was the only medical professional that Maradona paid any attention to," he said.

The case is investigated by a team of prosecutors headed by the attorney general of that Judicial Department, John Broyad;

and integrated by his deputies Patricio Ferrari and Cosme Iribarren;

and by the Benavídez prosecutor, Laura Capra.
