The Lattakia Agriculture Directorate continues to disburse damages compensation for agricultural crops that resulted from the fires that occurred in the governorate during the period from 8 to 12 last October, as the amount of compensation awarded to affected farmers to date amounted to 5.44 billion Syrian pounds.

The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Munther Khairbek, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the directorate today completed the delivery of receivables in the villages affected by the fires in the regions of Jableh, Al-Haffah and Lattakia, while the distribution operations will continue in the countryside of Qardaha until next week.

Engineer Khairbek explained during the compensation process in the Dar Ibrahim village center in the Qardaha countryside that the amounts delivered until this morning amounted to 5 440 billion Syrian pounds, from which about 8 thousand farmers in the four regions of the province benefited from them, pointing out that the governorate was keen that the committees in charge of handing compensation amounts were in The villages themselves to facilitate the distribution of compensation and reduce costs for the people, indicating that those affected receive their benefits without any deductions.

He stressed that the compensation awarded to farmers is for the fires that occurred in the governorate during the period from the 8th to the 12th of last October only, pointing out that most of the objections came from farmers whose lands were damaged by fires outside this period and said .. A central committee was formed. The governorate is fully responsible for deciding on any objection and ensuring that the rights are delivered to their owners

Regarding the distribution of seedlings to farmers, the Director of Agriculture pointed out that the Directorate has completed counting the dead plantings of the affected farmers, and is awaiting the Ministry's instructions to start handing over these seedlings and planting them, and to assist farmers in that by providing the necessary engineering mechanisms.

During the distribution of compensation in the village of Dar Ibrahim, SANA met a number of farmers whose crops were damaged and who agreed on the ease of procedures followed in handing out compensation, including Mamdouh Jaber Hamisha and Fouad Ibrahim Hamisha, who expressed their appreciation for the efforts made to empower farmers and help them under the current circumstances.
