The German opera singer will not sing his latest album, It's Christmas, as was scheduled on December 6, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées.

Jonas Kaufmann cancels his European Christmas tour because of the health crisis.

It was to take place from December 6 to 22 and stop in Paris, Vienna, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Mannheim and Hanover.

The German tenor was to take the opportunity to perform songs from

It's Christmas,

his latest album, released this fall.

The postponement to December 15 of the opening of theaters in France was right when he came to the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées on December 6 where he was to perform lieder by Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann, accompanied by the pianist Carrie-Ann Matheson.

The new date for the recital has not yet been determined.

Jonas Kaufmann had also previously canceled his participation in

as part of the

Ring

, initially offered by the Opéra Bastille in a concert version from November 23 to December 6.

The opportunities to attend a performance of the German artist are dwindling considerably at the end of the year.

Only the Danes, Germans and Italians have so far been spared.

After a performance yesterday, November 29, in Aalborg, Denmark, he will appear tonight and December 9 at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, where he will sing Rodolfo in

La Bohème

by Giacomo Puccini.

On December 7, he will participate in the gala evening offered on television and online at La Scala in Milan, alongside lyrical stars such as Placido Domingo, Marianne Crebassa or Roberto Alagna.
