Corona also brings the club life of the mountain rifle company Gmund almost completely to a standstill.

"Many traditional events that are so important for us mountain riflemen could not take place, including our anniversary and, most recently, the heroes' commemoration and the Leonhardiffahrt in Kreuth," said Captain Max Gröbl.

The general assembly, at which reports on the shooting year and honored members are honored, could not take place.

Only the main team now took part in the Saturday evening mass in St. Aegidius to commemorate their deceased comrades.

They include Josef Feicht, Hans Latin, Alfred Küblböck, Otto Küblböck, Johann Koll, Quirin Roth and Josef Berghammer senior.

The company currently consists of 293 men, eight sutlers and seven minstrels under the age of 16.

Two mountain riflemen were added.

The company can still look back on a few events: The Advent singing of the Association of Bavarian Mountain Rifles on December 8, 2019, for whose organization Gröbl thanks honorary and district captain Robert Stumbaum and Beni Eisenburg.

Gröbl thinks “with sadness” of the last December 24th, because the traditional march in memory of the Sendlinger Murder Christmas in Waakirchen will not take place this year.

Gebirgsschützen Gmund: Review of what still happened

The partnership with Eppan was confirmed on January 19, 2020 with the participation of a 20-strong flag delegation at the Sebastiani celebration.

The 173rd company, king and cup shooting could still be carried out at the beginning of March.

51 shooters took part, drum major Georg Haslauer was chosen as the shooter king.

All results can be viewed on the website under shooting dates (gsk-gmund.de).

Then the ranks had to be thinned: With appropriate protection and security precautions, only small flag delegations could move out for the high feasts of Corpus Christi and the Scapular Festival.

At the next General Assembly, not only will the reports already available be added, but the honors will also be made up, says Gröbl.

In a circular, Gröbl recognizes their commitment and loyalty.

"We mountain riflemen stand up for peace and freedom across national borders and want to continue our traditional tasks for society, church and state in the future." As long as a personal meeting is not possible, the captain asks to continue the comradeship in spirit maintain, "so that our Gmund company can survive this crisis unscathed and we can continue the 400-year tradition together in the interests of our ancestors."
