A gendarme came to the aid of a 14-year-old beaten up by about twenty people in Chartres (Eure-et-Loire) on Wednesday November 25 in the afternoon, reports the

While not on duty, the gendarme is alarmed by cries in the street.
He discovers that a teenage boy on the ground is being punched and kicked by a group of twenty people.
He decides to intervene by showing off his “
gendarmerie
”
armband
and shouting “
National Gendarmerie
”, thus causing the attackers to disperse.
The gendarme then provides first aid to the victim, before the arrival of firefighters and the police, alerted by witnesses.
