There is a corona outbreak at the Schwabing fire station in Heßstrasse - where the integrated control center is also located.

Five firefighters from the professional fire brigade have now tested positive, 16 others are in quarantine as a precaution.

Guard officers had only mild cold syndromes

On Monday morning, a fire brigade officer of the security team called in sick with mild cold symptoms.

It was tested in the morning - positive!

His colleagues from the same security team were then tested and two more corona infections were found in quick tests.

The two men did not (yet) have any symptoms and immediately went into quarantine.

Due to this accumulation, the head of the Munich professional fire brigade, Chief Fire Director Wolfgang Schäuble, had the entire security team taken out of service.

In the meantime, two other fire service officers have tested positive.

In such cases, emergency plans take effect so that colleagues from other guards and the volunteer fire brigade can supplement the operation at any time and keep it ready for action.

"We had to expect it and that is why we were very well prepared for exactly this case," said a spokesman for the Munich professional fire brigade.

Integrated rescue service control center is not affected

The integrated control center, in which the operations for the entire city and the ambulance service of the district of Munich are coordinated, is not affected.

The employees there have been working consistently separately from the staff of the rest of the fire station since the beginning of the pandemic in order to prevent possible cross-infections here as a precaution.

Infections in several areas of the university hospital on the right of the Isar
