There will be no après-ski this winter, according to the clear motto of the Austrian federal government.
It is therefore surprising that the Public Employment Service is able to find appropriate jobs.
Austria is in corona lockdown until December 6th.
It is already clear that winter will be hard.
There will definitely be no après-ski.
Nevertheless, an Austrian job authority arranges for relevant companies.
Vienna -
Austria
is still badly affected by the
corona pandemic
.
The EU country is still in
lockdown
until December 6th
.
There can therefore be no talk of a normal winter, on which tourism in the Alpine republic is dependent.
"Ski fun, yes, but without après-ski" was the clear motto of Federal Chancellor
Sebastian Kurz
(ÖVP)
in September
.
Corona in Austria: Aprés Ski excluded "Will continue to have to live with massive restrictions"
Two months and a hard lockdown later, even normal skiing is in danger.
It is completely unclear whether tourists are allowed to enter the country at all.
Even a Europe-wide closure of the ski resorts is in the room.
The black-green federal government is currently resisting this proposal from the EU and apparently wants to decide on the situation itself by Christmas.
According to Kurz, however, it seems certain that the residents of the country with nine million inhabitants “will have to
live
with further
massive restrictions
even after December 7th
.”
Austria
is facing a winter that has not been there for a long time.
Some don't seem to want to admit that.
Corona in Austria: Despite a consistent ban - vacancies for après-ski businesses
Job offers from ski companies who are looking for support for the upcoming winter are currently causing a stir.
Despite the categorical ban, it is also about
aprés ski
.
The jobs are mediated by the Austrian company
Arbeitsmarktservice
,
AMS for
short
.
If you enter the term “
Aprés Ski
”
in the search bar
, you will find a total of 46 vacancies.
From kitchen to bar staff, from souchefs to cleaning staff.
Possible employers include established après-ski giants from winter sports resorts such as
Schladming
,
Sankt Anton am Arlberg
or
Salzburg
and
Styria
.

Corona in Austria: Because of aprés ski from Vienna to Tyrol?
AMS is under criticism
The jobs in question are apparently given to job seekers without hesitation.
A Viennese announced on Twitter that the
AMS
would send requests for applications.
These are "mandatory application documents for après-ski
bars
in Tyrol." As the man describes to the
zackzack.at
portal
, the applications are mandatory.
Failure to apply could result in unemployment benefit being suspended for up to eight weeks.
Overall, it is possible to reject it, but difficult.
Only if the person is at risk or other requirements cannot be met does the position not have to be started.
Applying for this is complicated - especially for non-native speakers.
My wife (in her mid-50s, Vienna) receives mandatory application documents from #AMS for après-ski bars in #Tirol.
I think that's kind of ... I'd better not say anything.

Corona in Austria: "What is clear: Après-ski will be back in a year at the earliest"
What does the AMS say about the vacancies?
When asked about the placement of après-ski jobs on Twitter, board member Johannes Kopf simply stated that the respective companies are “already looking for staff with a view to opening up a potential opening” and added: “Whether the company will open at all or under what conditions, determined by the Minister of Health. ”But that was decided a long time ago.
There will be no
après ski
this winter
.
Definitely!
"What is clear: après-ski will be back in a year at the earliest," said Chancellor
Kurz
on November 29th.
Companies are already looking for staff with a view to opening up.
Health Minister determines whether the company will open at all and under what conditions.
If the person at risk, the duty of care or the company does not meet the requirements, the position does not have to be started.

Corona in Austria: fuss about job offers for après-ski companies
In the case of Viennese job seekers, in addition to their apparently very own perspective on
après-ski operations,
another open question
remains
: Why should a woman from
Vienna work
in the current situation in
Tyrol
, i.e. at the other end of the country?
From the side of the
AMS
it says diplomatically: "Supraregional placement is a
goal given to
the
AMS to
improve the much higher unemployment in Eastern Austria compared to the many vacancies in the West."
Overall, it ultimately seems more than strange that jobs for
après-ski bars are being found
this winter
- even if not everyone seems aware of this despite a clear statement by the federal government.
