Hasaka-Sana
The traditional food exhibition that is being held within the activities of the Folklore Days festival included varieties of dishes that distinguished the Syrian Jazeera and that the people of the region inherited from their ancestors.
During the exhibition organized by the Directorate of Culture and the Safsaf Al-Khabour Cultural Association in the Cultural Center hall, “Al-Kishk, Al-Habibah, Al-Meera, Al-Kebebat and Al-Tanoor Bread,” which is famous for its manufacture, is presented by the women of the governorate and is considered among the foods for the winter season.
On this occasion, a heritage artistic ceremony was held, in which the artists Ayesh Kulaib, Maarouf Manawir and Khaled Suleiman participated, during which pieces of traditional singing were presented and accompanied by the recitation of poems from well-known popular poetry such as Aboudiyat, Zuhairi, and other types of poetry.
Culture Director Abdulrahman Al-Sayed stated in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the food exhibition demonstrates the dependence of the cuisine in this region of Syria on the grain, vegetables and lamb that the island's land provides, which was the source of the ancestors' food, and the people to this day still adhere to preparing these types of foods.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Safsaf Al-Khabour Society, Ahmed Al-Hussein, pointed out that the tangible heritage has different aspects that must be highlighted and introduced to the public, including the traditional folk foods that the governorate is famous for, which may share the name with the rest of the governorates, but their content and method of preparation differ, noting the need to revive all components of heritage. Because it embodies our Syrian identity, its richness, and its diversity.
Within the activities of the first day of the Folklore Days Festival, an exhibition of traditional textiles for the art of Sadu was held at the Arab Cultural Center in Al-Hasakah.
