The Foreign Ministry today (Monday) welcomed the Slovenian government's decision to define Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.
The ministry said in a statement that in Slovenia, Hezbollah was defined as a body "with the characteristics of an organized crime organization, which poses a risk to peace and security and conducts global terrorist activities."
The Slovenian government's decision follows similar moves in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.
"The decision of the Slovenian government was made a few weeks after the decision of the Estonian government to ban the entry of Hezbollah operatives into its territory, and the announcement by the Guatemalan government of declaring Hezbollah a terrorist organization," the Foreign Ministry said.
"In the last year and a half, 16 countries have joined the list of countries that see Hezbollah, in all its arms as a terrorist organization."

This decision joins the decisions made in recent months by governments in Europe and Latin America, thanks to a multi-armed diplomatic operation led by the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi called on other countries to recognize Hezbollah, in all its arms, as a terrorist organization.
"I thank the Slovenian government for its decision, which joins the decisions made in recent months by governments in Europe and Latin America," said Minister Ashkenazi.
"The Slovenian government's decision against Hezbollah is another step in the Foreign Ministry's effort to expand international pressure on Hezbollah. I call on the European Union and other countries to recognize Hezbollah in all its arms as a terrorist organization.
"Hezbollah is a terrorist organization that primarily harms the citizens of Lebanon itself and takes them hostage in order to serve Iran's interests."
The Allent Europe-Israel organization said they "appreciate and appreciate the Slovenian government's decision to define Hezbollah, including its political arm, as a terrorist organization. Slovenia joins a growing number of European countries, sending a clear message against violence, terrorism and hatred." The Allent Organization, which works to strengthen European-Israeli relations, calls on other European countries to adopt this policy. "
