Yedidya Epstein, who was photographed handcuffed at a police station in Jerusalem, filed a lawsuit through attorney Itamar Ben Gvir for NIS 90,000 • "The conduct of the police crossed every border"

Yedidya Epstein, the 14-year-old ultra-Orthodox boy, whose picture, sitting on a bench at the police station in the Old City of Jerusalem during the night, was published and caused a stir on the Internet, is now suing the police for a cumulative sum of NIS 90,000.

The boy is suing, through his lawyer, Itamar Ben Gvir, the commander of the Lev HaBira station, the police officer and the policeman at the police station in the Old City.

Epstein is suing for three different cases and alleges, among other things, illegal arrests, assault, defamation, invasion of privacy and handcuffing.

Epstein is a resident of the Old City who occasionally holds gates on the Temple Mount.

The lawsuit alleges that this practice is icing on the cake in the eyes of some locals as well as in the eyes of some police officers.

The statement of claim lists three different arrests.

The first of which is the arrest that provoked a storm on the net.

It happened at the end of June.

Epstein had a round of goals with his teammates, and when they encountered locals, a confrontation developed between the parties.

Police officers who arrived at the scene allegedly encountered objects being thrown from the rooftops by the locals.

According to Epstein, instead of treating and responding, the police chose to disperse the group of Jewish boys, and when they insisted on continuing to turn the gates, they encountered opposition from the police.

In response, the group boys sat on the ground and refused to move.

The indictment alleges that the officers used force to fend off Epstein, shouting in pain, and at one point was thrown to the floor.

As a result, his ankle was injured.

Epstein was detained for questioning and claims that one of the policemen at the police station strangled him in the throat and then put him in the bathroom with two other policemen and there kicked him with his injured leg and threatened him.

After being transferred to the Qishla station in the David area, he allegedly suffered humiliation and humiliation from the police, who laughed at him and teased him.

He said that when he asked to be summoned by a paramedic from the Rescue Union to have his leg examined, the police refused his request.

Only around two o'clock at night was he allowed to speak to a lawyer for the first time and then his interrogation took place.

His lawyer, Advocate Ben Gvir, claims in the lawsuit that the investigation was conducted illegally, late and without his parents being updated. At one point, Epstein was handcuffed and required to sit on a bench during the night while handcuffed. According to the lawsuit, the police remembered to call Epstein's mother to inform her about his arrest, however, the police then claimed that Epstein's father had been informed at night about his son's arrest.

The lawsuit further alleges that after the publication of a picture of Epstein handcuffed caused a stir, the police stepped up to do so, and instead of apologizing, violated his privacy when briefing the media and posting videos from security cameras in the Old City and police station , And was not at all bound at the time of his arrest.

A few days later, Epstein filed a complaint with DIP.

In another incident that took place on Sukkot, during a demonstration by ultra-Orthodox in Mea Shearim, Epstein was arrested again, he claimed after documenting a police officer brutally and violently treating a person with special needs.

A video from the incident shows the commander of the Lev HaBira station, Shimi Marciano, running towards Epstein and forcing him to the floor.

According to Adv. Ben Gvir: "The conduct of the police crossed all the red borders.

"We decided not to wait for DIP's decision. We think the actions of the police officers are serious and justify compensation, so we filed the civil lawsuit."

The Israel Police stated: "The statement of claim has not yet been received by the police and when it is received, we will respond to it as usual."
