Today, the Deir Ezzor Agriculture Directorate put the irrigation project in the town of Boleil in the eastern countryside of the governorate into service after it was rehabilitated from the damage it suffered as a result of terrorism.

The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Rafi` Abu Al-Aish, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the project was implemented in cooperation with the World Food Program, the Patriarchate of Antioch and the rest of the East for the Greek Orthodox (Ecumenical Relations and Development Department), and it is one of the vital projects that comes within the framework of the work to replant all cultivable areas in the governorate and irrigate the spaces Which has been damaged in previous years by terrorism, which contributes to its return to the agricultural process.

Abu al-Aish stated that the project provides irrigation water to about 6000 dunums of agricultural land in the town of Boleil and the surrounding villages, and contributes to the restoration of life to large areas of land that have been out of service for years as a result of the suspension of agricultural irrigation groups.

For his part, the project supervisor, Eng. Bassam Matroud, indicated that the works that were carried out included the installation of a transformer (630 KVA) and four sets of water pumping needed for irrigation with operating panels, in addition to maintenance of pumps, intake and push pipes.

A number of farmers noted the efforts made to restore the wheel of production in the agricultural sector in Deir Ezzor, which would contribute to supporting the national economy and securing a source of income for the people returning to their villages and fields.
