The employees of the Gautinger organic baker Cramer break away: two suddenly have to be in quarantine, a third had been given leave for a long time.

Gauting

- Food processing companies are actually in the fortunate position of surviving the lockdown more or less well, as they are exempt from closings.

The Gautinger organic baker Cramer is currently still hit hard by the pandemic: Two employees are in quarantine from one day to the next, and a third was given leave - which had been planned for a long time.

The Cramer couple somehow have to run the business pretty much alone.

The Cramer couple have to run the shop on their own - every day from 6.30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

One of the Cramers employees who is in quarantine lives in the shared accommodation in Gauting West.

At the beginning of last week, a resident there tested positive for Corona, so the entire facility was blocked.

"My employee is no longer allowed to work until December 7th, but she still has to be paid," says Suely Cramer, a little desperately.

She has been standing alone behind the bread counter in the bakery on Starnberger Strasse since Tuesday.

"Daily from 6.30 a.m. to 7 p.m."

The young woman, who fled Yemen, told her boss on Tuesday that she would no longer be allowed to leave the facility with immediate effect, otherwise she could face a fine of up to 25,000 euros.

“My employee had no contact with the infected person at all,” says Suely Cramer with astonishment and feels a bit left alone by the authorities.

According to the government of Upper Bavaria, which operates the refugee accommodation, they should see how they can get the money back from the country for the lost work of the employees.

But that's not all: Another employee in the bakery had contact with a man who had tested positive and was also out until the health department gave the all-clear.

Since she had previously given another employee leave, “I'm now three people short”.

And this in the middle of the Christmas business.

"There are two of us at the two Gautinger organic bakery locations in Starnberger and Unterbrunner Strasse," she explains.

And sales staff are in short supply.

Therefore, the Cramers are of course happy that they have employees from the refugee accommodation.

Despite a negative test result: the employee stays at home

"I tested negative for Corona," the Yemeni emphasized on Sunday when asked.

She came to Bavaria a year and a half ago and already speaks fluent German “at A-2 basic level,” as she says.

She has been working in the Cramer Backhaus for a month, says the 25-year-old.

Three of the four residents of her compartment, including herself, have already tested negative.

But a roommate is still waiting for the laboratory result.

That is how long the Brazilian-born Suely Cramer has to step in - and hope that her employees will both quickly get the green light from the health department.
