The town of Malah in the countryside of As-Suwayda witnessed thunderstorms at dawn today, accompanied by heavy falling of hail, forming a thickness of them that covered the entire town.
The head of the town council, Hammoud Balan, said in a statement to the SANA reporter that the hail grains fell profusely, and some of them had a diameter of one centimeter and a thickness of about 10 centimeters, likely to cause damage to winter vegetable crops.
Ballan noted that the town council is following up on the damages that may have occurred in order to work to remedy them.
For his part, the head of the extension unit in the town, Engineer Muhannad Ayoub, explained that the unit has not received, until this moment, any notification of any damage and is ready in case of any damage to farmers' lands within the agricultural organization to detect it and take the necessary measures.
The town of Malah is located 42 km southeast of the city of Sweida.
