The executive director of the arms sector of the Russian state company Rostec, Bekkhan Ozdoyev, announced that the company is designing a multi-role air defense complex that will replace the Russian Pantsir missile and anti-air system.
"The new short-range air defense complex will be equipped with various weapons that will destroy land targets as well as confront various air targets," Russia Today quoted Ozdoyev as saying.
He explained that the new complex will be designed on the basis of the Pantsir S missile system, anti-air guns and other promising Russian air defense systems, indicating that this system is not only able to combat aircraft, helicopters and drones, but also destroy winged missiles and guided air bombs, and those targets are destroyed at a distance up to 20 km and an altitude between 3 meters and 15 km.
Ozdoyev pointed out that the use of the Pantsir S combat system provided Russia with good experience, which is now helping to develop and modernize the system and design a new air defense system that will replace it.
