The central corona vaccination station for the Weilheim-Schongau district will be set up in the former hospital in Peißenberg and should start on December 15.

District administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß informed the district committee about this.

  • The vaccination center for the Weilheim-Schongau district is set up in the former hospital in Peißenberg.

Up to 250 people should be able to be vaccinated against corona here per day.

  • Preparations are currently under way - the painters are out and about in the building, the elevator is being checked.

  • At the same time, the search for a company that will run the vaccination center is ongoing.

Several companies have applied, the decision on the award is to be made next Tuesday.

District

- The committee cleared the way for the establishment of the vaccination center by authorizing the district administrator to outsource the operation of the center to the most economical provider.

Jochner-Weiß reported to the committee that the tender was currently running.

She expects to be awarded on Tuesday, December 8th.

Then the new operator has exactly one week to set everything up.

However, it can be doubted that corona vaccinations will really be carried out from December 15.

Although several companies have now announced the completion of a corresponding vaccine, none has been officially approved as of yesterday.

Vaccination center in Peißenberg: Krankenhaus GmbH waves away, numerous other applicants

Regardless of this, the state government has determined that all vaccination stations in the Free State must be ready by December 15th (we reported).

That is why the district office started the tender after the Weilheim-Schongau GmbH hospital, which already operates the test center at the Volksfestplatz in Weilheim, saw no capacity to take over the vaccination station.

District councilor Karl-Heinz Grehl (Grüne / Weilheim) expressed concerns in this regard that a provider could be found who could muster the necessary qualified staff.

“You don't have to worry,” replied the district administrator.

Even before the start of the invitation to tender, "a lot" of providers who wanted to take on the task - including Johanniter - had registered.

You would have to meet a detailed list of requirements in order to win the contract in the end.

Vaccination center in Peißenberg: capacity for up to 250 people per day

It has already been decided that the vaccination center should be set up in the old hospital in Peißenberg.

Painting work was already in progress there yesterday, and the elevator is also to be checked, says Jochner-Weiß.

If enough vaccine is available, up to 250 people a day will be vaccinated there.

The conditions at this location are ideal due to its earlier use as a hospital.

Peißenberg is also in the middle of the district and can be easily reached from the Weilheim, as well as the Schongau and Penzberg areas.

Doctors in private practice want to form mobile vaccination teams

According to the district administrator, anyone who belongs to the risk group and is not able to come to the vaccination center in Peißenberg should also be able to be vaccinated by mobile vaccination teams.

Around 50 resident doctors from the district have already contacted us and have expressed their willingness to take on services in these mobile vaccination teams.

Two to three such teams, each of which should be three men strong, will then be on the road in the district, Jochner-Weiß continues.

Among other things, you should vaccinate residents in nursing homes.

The standing vaccination commission decides in which order the vaccination will take place, according to the district office yesterday on request.

The corresponding ranking is currently still being drawn up.

According to the district office, it is currently also unclear how many people can actually be vaccinated.

In purely mathematical terms, with 253 working days in the coming year and 250 vaccinations per day in Peißenberg, a maximum of 31,625 people could be vaccinated in the test center, because each patient needs two vaccinations to get full protection.

That would be only a quarter of the total population of the district.

How many can actually be taken care of depends, according to the district office, mainly on the general willingness of the population to vaccinate and the result of the tender for the test center.

Peißenberg vaccination center: No complex cooling technology required

However, complex high-performance cooling technology does not have to be installed in Peißenberg.

Because it is still unclear whether the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine, which has to be stored at minus 70 degrees, will be used.

And even if they do, the serum is stored in the central warehouse at the required temperature and only delivered to Peißenberg at short notice.

It was said yesterday that it could be stored and used there for three to five days with normal cooling.
