Turn a disadvantage into an advantage: All the problems of this house have become advantages

They bought a 25-year-old house in Herzliya, in good condition but with quite a few problems - the main staircase gravel between the parts of the house and the toilets protruded into the public space.

Smart design has managed to turn all the disadvantages into advantages.

A living experience that starts from the outside and intensifies when you enter.

"It is clear that over the years the house has been well maintained and maintained, but adjustments and upgrades have been required in both the planning and design of the exterior and interior to adapt it to the lifestyles and tastes of its new owners," explains architect Ron Spiegel, owner of Spiegel Architects.

"The end result is a home that provides a living experience that starts already outside it and intensifies inside."

Before the renovation it completely disrupted the flow on the floor, now it is a show.

One of the most prominent challenges in the planning process was the connection between the various wings on the ground floor, in the center of which stood a staircase that before the renovation was gravel and created a complete separation between the kitchen and living room and prevented flow throughout the floor.

And another problem was that the guest toilets in the entrance area were designed in a position that made them stand out instead of being assimilated as much as possible into the space.

Smart geometric divisions hide in the light wall all the essential functions you do not want to see (Photo: Elad Gonen)

In order to open and ventilate the floor and create a dynamic system of connections between the spaces, the architect chose to open the staircase as much as possible and the original walls now replace a glass railing facing the public space and handcrafted iron railings leading to the basement and living floor.

The gram itself is a canopy in oak, a motif that adds an abundance of warmth and character to the public space.

The guest services have been redesigned to be integrally integrated into the wall where Spiegel was able to assimilate other important functions, such as a well-equipped bar and storage spaces, including an area designed for storing dining chairs used when hosting multi-participants.

The impressive furniture is painted in a light shade and includes asymmetrical geometric divisions that add sophistication and interest and fit into the latest style.

An incredibly sophisticated and meticulous space.

The kitchen has also been redesigned and includes two hinged cabinets, one of which separates it from the staircase and serves as a functional piece of furniture that combines open compartments that display books and decorative items.

The combination of the light surfaces (Corian and the Decathlon plate in the Carrera marble look) and the facades (some of which are covered with wood and some of which are painted in graphite gray) make the space look incredibly sophisticated and meticulous.

The bar area incorporates bar stools with WATERPROOF NABUK leather upholstery that are easy and convenient to maintain in a dark gray shade that matches the color scheme of the space.

A surprising item is a charcoal-gray console that stands near the garden exit and opens when needed for an extra-large 4-foot-long dining table.

The large terrace is used for casual seating and allows the couple to host a morning or afternoon coffee.

For the sake of interest, Spiegel designed a thinly covered perimeter bench on which comfortable and colorful pillows are placed and in the center a rug.

The TV furniture located in the living room is partly painted in the oven and partly covered with oak veneer, and it hides the air conditioning system inside - thus eliminating the need for lowering the ceiling.

In the living room, you can find two seating systems - the larger one consists of a seating system that includes two deep and luxurious sofas upholstered in a rich, high-quality fabric in a shade of gray-blue jeans and next to them an armchair upholstered in a lemon-lime fabric.

The smaller and more intimate seating area serves as a relaxation area for adults where they can enjoy a glass of good wine and the view from the outside.

It consists of two armchairs that are also upholstered in a gray-blue fabric, which corresponds with the larger seating system.

The basement floor also received a new design that divided it into two - a work area (which has a direct and separate door from the main front door) and a play and creation area for children.

This floor, similar to the living floor, is paved with oak parquet with a fishbone pattern.

On the living floor is located the master bedroom.

Its design leaves the space open and ventilated and yet creates privacy and separation between the bedroom and the bathroom thanks to a high closet unit that in the part facing the sleeping area also serves as a multimedia wall.
