Weather in Germany: The first snow in the lowlands!
December got off to an impressive start with snow and black ice.

German Weather Service
(DWD) currently warns * in its warning card, except in the northern half and in the west, in many places of slippery conditions due to snow, ice and freezing moisture.
In the south in particular, snow is to be expected down to the depths, and freezing rain in the southeast.
The DWD warns here especially against widespread slippery conditions.
During the day, the snowfall slowly subsides.

Weather in Germany: numerous black ice accidents with seriously injured people
Especially in
Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate
, the interior ministries reported
heavy snowfall
on Tuesday night
, which
resulted in
several dozen
accidents
with several seriously injured people.
The North Hesse police headquarters in Kassel reported 13 weather-related accidents with a total of
nine seriously injured by
early Tuesday morning
.
According to a spokesman, the last serious accident was reported at around 1.00 a.m., and nothing major had happened in the following hours.
There were around 25 accidents during the night in the area of responsibility of the
South Hesse
Presidium
around Darmstadt.
A tractor-trailer skid on the B47 near Bensheim and the trailer was torn off.
The road was temporarily closed due to salvage work.
The police mostly attribute the accidents from the night to the lack of winter tires.

Weather in Germany: slush and slippery ice cause accidents in Bavaria
Snow, slush and slippery ice also caused many accidents in Bavaria * - most of them ended with no harm.
A police spokesman in Upper Bavaria said there were more accidents with sheet metal damage in rush hour traffic, and some people were slightly injured.
The police from Central Franconia also reported numerous traffic obstructions due to slipperiness and broken down cars.

In Baden-Württemberg too, the weather caused problems on the roads.
Around Pforzheim, for example, the police counted eight accidents due to slipperiness by early Tuesday morning.
Snow in Germany: Several vehicles crash in Lower Saxony
In southern
Lower Saxony
, several vehicles crashed due to black ice on Autobahn 7: On a sloping stretch between the Drammetal motorway triangle and the Lutterberg junction, it crashed at least three times during the night, as a police spokesman said early Tuesday morning.
The lane to the north was temporarily completely closed, the opposite lane was only passable in one lane.
According to the police, there were no injuries.

From Schleswig-Holstein to North Rhine-Westphalia it cools down to 4 to 0 degrees, otherwise the temperatures reach +2 to -6 degrees.
It gets coldest in the east and in the Alps.
