Russian President Vladimir Putin today (Wednesday) ordered a massive immunization campaign in Russia starting next week.
Moscow has developed the "Sputnik 5" vaccine, which will come into use despite doubts about it in Western countries.
Putin said back in August, with the announcement of the successful experiment, that his daughter had already been vaccinated.
The first to receive the vaccine will be the medical staff and teachers.
"Let's agree on that - you will not report to me next week, but will start mass vaccinations. Let's go to work," Putin told Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova.
In doing so, Russia joins the UK, which has said it will begin vaccinating its citizens starting next week, following a vaccine-approved emergency permit developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.
