In a few days it will be Santa Claus - but here, too, many things are different and unusual this year.

Those who offer Santa Claus services received fewer inquiries this year and will only visit under special conditions.

Bad Tölz / Kochel am See / Lenggries - "

Despite the difficult conditions, we are also carrying out the popular St. Nicholas Services this year," says Katharina Gabriel, the deputy chairwoman of the Junge Union (JU) Kochel.

The first inquiries had already been received in October, but no advertising had been made for them.

“Nevertheless there are fewer visitors overall this year,” says Gabriel.

This year a lot will be different.

“We will avoid direct contact.” Kochel is also currently considering alternatives.

“We are considering offering a walk.

Nicholas walks through the village and looks in through the window. "

Tölzer Nikolaus and Krampus only visit acquaintances and friends this year

Nepomuk and Leander Poschenrieder, who mainly offer their service as Nikolaus and Krampus in Tölz, only visit friends and acquaintances this year, and only at a distance.

"Nikolaus is a family day, so often a lot of people come together," says Nepomuk Poschenrieder.

You are aware that private parties carry a particularly high risk of increasing the number of infections.

“We don't want our visits to tempt you to take unnecessary risks,” says Leander Poschenrieder.

Overall, say the Poschenrieders, there have been noticeably fewer inquiries this year.

She accepted seven families, others were turned down.

The visits will take place outdoors this year.

But masks are out of the question for them.

"We prefer to stand behind the garden fence and agree with the parents that they hand over the gifts," says Nepomuk Poschenrieder.

This is not a problem for the parents.

"They all go along well when it comes to requirements and restrictions," says Leander Poschenrieder.

The Lenggries Nikolaus relies on distance and fresh air

For Nikolaus Klaus Wiedemann from Lenggries, too, the connection to the children is lost through a mask.

“I will only perform without a mask,” says Wiedemann.

“With a distance and in the fresh air, of course.” He doesn't see any problems with this.

Wiedemann has fewer bookings this year than usual. "I have currently planned eight visits."

Can Santa Claus also appear digitally?

Such a visit, for example via the video platform “Zoom”, is out of the question for JU Kochel.

It looks different for the Poschenrieder siblings.

"We have already visited a family through 'Zoom'," says Leander Poschenrieder.

“That's why it's not excluded for us.” After all, the most important thing is to put a smile on the children's faces.

Further information:

Anyone who would like to contact Nikolaus, the cook, can call 0 88 57/6 98 77 20 or 01 60/90 20 93 03. The Santa Clauses in Tölz and Lenggries do not accept any further orders.
