The scandal after the viralization of old tweets with discriminatory content by three members of Los Pumas does not stop generating news.
On the night of this Wednesday a news came from the Argentine Rugby Union: given the rejection that the sanctions against Pablo Matera,
Guido Petti
and
Santiago Socino
had generated in sports referents and some clubs
, the entity decided to
reverse
the decision it had taken just 48 hours ago.
The decision of the leaders came a little less than three days before the meeting that the Argentine team will play against Australia, for the last date of the Three Nations.
In this way, the three players would be in a position to be present, although there are doubts about whether they will be part of the team and also who will be the captain in the end.
The scandal over racist tweets created a rift in Argentine rugby.
Beyond the players' apology, the UAR had decided to revoke the captaincy of Matera, initiate a disciplinary process for the three of them and temporarily suspend them until the Disciplinary Commission studied and resolved the situation.
And, beyond the generalized repudiation of the messages, the sanctions, backed by a few, were harshly criticized by the majority of players and former players, who came out to support their colleagues of the national team and try to calm things down.
Among the prominent names who publicly supported the three players - some hitting the UAR, others remarking the fact that at the time of publishing the tweets, the players were between 18 and 20 years old and today they are other people - were the former Pumas
Horacio Agulla
,
Juan Manuel Leguizamón
, Juan Martín Hernández and
Patricio Albacete
and some current members of the team, such as
Matías Moroni
and
Tomás Lavanini
.
Alumni and SIC, two emblematic national rugby clubs, joined these names this Wednesday.
In the midst of the scandal, the clubs in which two of the players involved were formed came out to support them.
Alumni
, the birthplace of Pablo Matera, and
San Isidro Club
(SIC), from which
Guido Petti
emerged
, issued separate statements supporting their former players.
From the San Isidro Club we repudiate the sayings that Guido Petti expressed on his social networks long ago.
Nothing is further from our feelings and thoughts.
Guido publicly apologized and, trusting in his sincerity, has our support and accompaniment in this difficult time.

"Taking charge of mistakes, apologizing publicly and modifying inappropriate behaviors of the past are attitudes that we highlight in this difficult moment. The repudiable and regrettable texts that took public status are for us, as a club, a wake-up call to continue deepening our motto of "Always Respect", recognizing the deviations that may appear, "said Alumni in a message signed by the Board of Directors and shared on their social networks.
And he closed: "Pablo has recognized his mistake and apologized, in such a way that he has the
support of the club
that saw him grow and train in the captain and the person he is," said Alumni in a message signed by the Board of Directors and shared on their social networks.
A similar sentiment had the SIC statement.
"From the San Isidro Club we repudiate the sayings that Guido Petti expressed in his social networks some time ago. Nothing is further from our feelings and thoughts. Guido publicly apologized and, trusting in his sincerity, he has our
support and accompaniment
in this difficult moment ", he claimed.
Another traditional rugby club like Curupaytí expressed a similar position.
Through a statement, he stated that he repudiated "any act such as those that were publicly known, but it gives rise to the request for forgiveness and acceptance of the mistakes made."
