A political mistake coupled with a missed opportunity.
Before defending once again, before parliamentarians, their proposed constitutional law aimed at guaranteeing
“the preeminence of the laws of the Republic”, the
Republicans had little illusions about their chances of convincing the government.
Reporter of the text Thursday to the Assembly, Annie Genevard denounces a
"strictly political approach"
which, according to her, will not serve the fight against separatism promised by Emmanuel Macron.
The Vice-President of the Assembly even believes that by refusing the outstretched hand of the right, the government is running the risk of weakening its bill against separatism aimed at
"consolidating secularism and republican principles".
The government text will be presented on December 9 in the Council of Ministers but, for LR, only a modification of the Constitution reaffirming the basis of a
"common rule",
from which no one can withdraw in the name of
"his origin or his religion ",
