Today, the Homs Agriculture Directorate started the afforestation of the “near Ali” site in the western Homs countryside, which was exposed to fires last October.

The Director of Agriculture, Engineer Nazih Al-Rifai, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the afforestation plan developed by the directorate for the current year amounts to 150 hectares in various forest areas in the governorate, indicating that due to the passage of heavy machinery during fire extinguishing at a site near Ali, it is difficult to regenerate naturally.

He explained that the directorate began distributing olive seedlings to the villages affected by the fires in the Wadi Al-Nadara area, as 500 seedlings were distributed in the town of Al-Mazina and 310 in the town of Hob Namira, and within days, the seedlings distribution will be completed for the rest of the affected villages, after which the fruit tree seedlings will be distributed.

In turn, Elias Bitar, head of the Tal Kalakh Forest Division, stated that the area of the target area near Ali is 5 dunums, and through afforestation, agricultural lands will be separated from forestry so that natural forests are not violated, indicating that the division's forestation plan for the current year amounts to 35 hectares, including the cultivation of 10 thousand A variety of plantations in Nazareth, near Ali, and next to Al-Aafs, Elfar surface, and Al-Mazinah, confirming that the natural woodland sites that were exposed to fires began to regenerate automatically.

Last October, a site near Ali was exposed to a large fire that affected areas of forest trees.
