Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov plans to meet a delegation of AfD politicians in Moscow on Tuesday next week.
The visit was at the invitation of the Russian parliament, said ministry spokeswoman Maria Sakharova, according to a report by the Interfax news agency.
But it is unclear whether the meeting will actually take place.
The delegation was originally supposed to be headed by the chairman of the AfD parliamentary group, Alexander Gauland.
A parliamentary group spokesman in Berlin announced, however, that Gauland could not go on an originally planned visit to Moscow "for organizational reasons."
It remained open whether the trip would take place with other participants.
The parliamentary group's foreign policy spokesman, Armin-Paul Hampel, could not be reached in the afternoon.
Because of the corona pandemic, there has been no free travel between Germany and Russia for months.
Entry is only possible with a special permit.
Relations between Germany and Russia are tense.
Most recently, the attack on the Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny caused considerable differences between the two governments.
After receiving treatment at the Charité clinic, the opposition member is now in Germany for rehab.
The AfD advocates lifting the EU sanctions against Russia and a "normalization of relations".
