Economy Minister Amir Peretz said today (Thursday) that he intends to run for president.
In an interview with Gali Tzahal, the Labor chairman said that "this is one of the roles I can fulfill due to my ability to create dialogue - the ultra-Orthodox, the secular, the right, the left - everyone knows how to appreciate my positions, even those who oppose them."
The presidential election will only take place next June, and according to the current situation, he will not be elected by the current Knesset.
In order to run, Peretz will be required to obtain the signatures of ten MKs from the Knesset as part of the elections.
