This Thursday, the president of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, inaugurated one of the largest electric bus terminals in Latin America, “El Conquistador de Maipú”.
It is the most ambitious project in energy matters for public transport in the southern country.
This terminal, of more than 15,000 m², will allow the incorporation of 215 electric buses to the system.
It had a cost of more than 80 million dollars, of which 8 million were used for construction and the remaining 72 million for the purchase of buses.
"These 215 electric buses will save 38,000 tons of CO2 per year.
What does this amount to?
It is equivalent to the CO2 captured by 2 million trees.
In other words, this is equivalent to a forest the size of the Santiago commune, ”explained the Chilean president.
